Thinks about how Rose Quartz was abused by the diamonds and locked in a light deprivation chamber (something that is very implied gems need to keep functioning) when she ""misbehaved"", and how she just hid behind the manufactured personas (RQ and PD) to hide her own passionate and jokey self that she was brought up to believe was inherently bad!!! And how she had this deep self-loathing her whole life because of the way the Diamonds disrespected her and treated her as inherently below them from the start of her life (a thought process she kept her whole life because she felt that "gems pop out of the ground like they are and stay like that forever" )!!!

And how this made it harder for her to relate and connect to other gems!!!! Like reading interviews abt the crew where they state that her love for everyone and everything was genuine but it was also sort of worship-y in the sense that she saw everyone else as so much better than her and how that caused her to feel like she couldn't connect with anyone!!!!!

WHICH IS ONLY MADE WORSE when you think about how she already struggled with empathy throughout her whole life (there's a quote somewhere about how Steven's empathy comes from Greg only but idk where to find it)

and with how she treats Greg in Story for Steven, and also these bits

that show that she understood she had trouble picking up on other people's emotions and (at least with Pearl) was trying to change for the better!!!!! AHHRHGH

Like. She never even learned how to deal with the outbursts she had whenever she was overwhelemed/frustrated, because she still has them as Rose (that one episode where she babysits Sour Cream).
We know she feels guilty about what she did to Volleyball because of the way she distances herself from Pearl at the beggining ( Pearl is still in the ""default settings"" (eugh) outfit), (which tbh might also be because she's afraid to get attached only for CG Pearl to get "taken away" by White Diamond, which Blue Diamond implies is what happened (or would happen) if PD lashed out again. Also because of this RS doodle!!!

Her RSD and self-loathing were so fucking bad she did AWFUL stuff (silenced Pearl and bubbled Bismuth) and created the Rose Quartz persona of the gem she really wanted to be, someone extremely kind and understanding (even when she couldn't understand people a lot of the time!!!!) and just projected her own self hatred and guilt onto "Evil Pink Diamond" (where Garnet's fake idea of Pink Diamond came from). ALL OF THIS IS JUST A BIG CYCLE!!! Feel bad -> Pretend to be an Idealized Yourself-> Backfires in some way -> Do bad thing -> Feel bad -> etc.

Like. Others thought of her as this "mysterious" figure BECAUSE she kept others away from her so that they wouldn't find out about who she "really" was out of fear everyone who she cared for and loved (and as seen above, she loved other gems a LOT), would realize she was a bad person all along and leave her behind (like :) the diamonds :) did :))

And that's. All she knew!!! Until Greg came along!!!!! GHHHHGH

She just needs therapy so fucking bad oh mygofddd!!!!! Like. The way it's been implied by the crewniverse that Steven's thought processes in SUF are SUPER like his mother's.

Like. Was RQ an antagonist?? Yeah maybe!!!! She was very ignorant and her self-hate caused a lot of damage to the people around her. It just rattles my bones that she has a lot of neurodivergent traits and everyone treats her like she's this malign character that was Secretly Evil and Definitely Planned Everything Out Of Malice. Like no she's just. No thoughts head empty. Share if you dont think.

i finished the nge tv series and end of eva movie last night and rei definitely has some gender going on

got some EPIC laces today >:3c
got some neon yellow laces, purple ones that im putting on my most used boots (bc it apparently means gay pride :0 and also!!! theyre just nice :) ) AND my big faves!!! these black laces with little rainbow stars with like. arcade colors? they look AMAZING im not sure where i'm putting them yet but they're very cool.

the context for this is that a lot of kids really liked Kopa and headcanoned the cub at the end of the first movie as him, instead of Kiara, and the teens and adults in the fandom were BIG ANGRY bc of it. its just the most hilarious thing.

these guys usually love kion a lot of the time because "LOOK AT KION. WHY DO YOU STILL LIKE KOPA HE'S 2 DIMENSIONAL WHY DONT YOU LIKE KION INSTEAD". so if you ever see art of mine where Kion's not there but Kiara and Kopa (and other Simba and Nala kids I have in my au) are, this is the reason. Pure spite babeyyyyyyy!!!!!!
